Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel my subscription?

Sign in, open Account, click Manage billing to open the Stripe Customer Portal, then select Cancel subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then.

When am I billed during the 7-day trial?

You are not billed during the trial. A $0 authorisation may appear on your card for verification. At the end of 7 days the full monthly price is charged unless you cancel first.

Can I switch tiers?

Yes. Open the Stripe Customer Portal, choose a different plan, and the change takes effect immediately (pro-rated). Your current access continues until the switch completes.

How fresh is the data?

SST & chlorophyll tiles refresh every 3 hours. Live AIS vessel positions update within seconds. Fishing-stop and AOI detections run on a ~5-minute cadence. Daily fishing reports (SoCal tier) publish four times a day.

Some boats or spots are missing or stale — why?

AIS and ADS-B rely on ground receivers that don't cover every inch of ocean. Vessels transmitting from deep offshore Baja or beyond line-of-sight of coastal receivers may not appear. Class A transponders throttle to one ping every 3 minutes when stationary. Tiles may be delayed when satellite passes are interrupted.

Is Catalysst intended for navigation?

No. Catalysst is a planning and research aid only. Do not use it for navigation, collision avoidance, search and rescue, or any safety-critical decision. Always rely on approved nautical charts, official NOAA/NWS weather products, and properly functioning marine electronics.

How do I delete my account?

Sign in, open Account, scroll to the Danger zone, click Delete my account, and confirm by typing DELETE. Personal data is removed within 30 days.

Does Catalysst work on mobile?

Yes — the web app is responsive and installable as a PWA on iOS and Android (add to home screen). A native mobile app is planned.

Can I use the data for my fishing charter business?

You can use the Service as a planning tool within your personal account. Sharing credentials, reselling data, or redistributing content is not permitted. Commercial-fleet licensing: email jeff@chasingpelagics.com.
